Australian Genetics Project

Preventing inherited diseases in future generations

Australian Genetics Project

Whether you think you have a White Swiss Shepherd, White Shepherd, White German Shepherd, they are all the same breed with the same genetic problems, bloodlines and genepool in Australia.

It is our ultimate goal and purpose to determine the current status of health of the breed in Australia and eventually to improve the health, of our breed for future generations.

Health information will be made available to the public and other breeders so we can all learn and make better breeding choices.

If you use Australian bloodlines in your breeding program, it highly recommended that you check this list before making any breeding decision. The best way to prevent disease is to know what problems are carried or have been produced by particular dogs.

If your dogs bloodline is known to carry a specific trait or disease, if you breed your dog to another dog with the same traits, chances are you will produce puppies that have a high risk in being affected with these problems. However, if two dogs are bred that do NOT have common disease, the risk of producing puppies with any of the diseases the parents carry, is greatly reduced or eliminated.

This information has been reported by or with the permission of the owner of the dog or the other of the sire of dam of the dog (breeders) either verbally or in writing for improvement of the health of the breed. It has been submitted in an honest way that complies with the goals of the project.

Breeders and owners who have submitted information to this project are applauded for their honesty and dedication to breed improvement.  The more people contribute, the more confident others will feel to contribute information.

Every dogs information is important to the health and betterment of our breed. If you have a de-sexed pet that which had health problems or been diagnosed with a disease, it is important you include your dogs health information.

All information submitted to us becomes the property of the Australian Genetics Project/Database.
